The Whistler XTR-140 Radar Detector is one of the most solid detectors in the market, with the basic detection skills, but without the unnecessary fuss. Its manufacturer, Whistler, has been producing and marketing radar detectors since 1971, which shows a certain level of skill, experience and knowledge in the industry. With their line of products, Whistler has been a trusted name in radar and laser detection, and has been used by drivers and vehicle owners everywhere.
This Whistler Radar Detector gives Total Band Protection that gives complete coverage of all laser, radar, VG-2, and safety radar bands. It has easy to read icons to indicate power, city mode, radar band identification, and signal strength, which saves you a lot of time in trying to check on your status, as opposed to other complicated units. It also has a Twin Alert Periscope that provides a visual alert with two extra LEDs flashing on and off once the unit sets off the alarm. It has three city modes and a highway mode that gives full audio and visual warning of laser and radar systems while still maintaining full sensitivity. Its city mode reduces alerts coming from automatic door openers and burglar alarms, which are some of the most notorious false alarm setters in an urban setting. It also has quiet and auto quiet modes that silences audio alerts as needed, leaving the visual alerts as a continuous warning. It has set alert priorities, coming in this order: Laser, VG-2, Speed Radar, Safety Radar. It has a vehicle battery saver mode that automatically shuts off the detector in case you forgot to turn it off manually, helping you save a lot on energy consumption and avoiding unexpected battery drain. It uses a patented VG-2 cloaking technology, keeping it undetected by radar detector detectors and keeping you even more protected. The package includes a windshield mount, power cord, and a user?s manual.

Customer Reviews and Ratings
Seeing the price of this detector will probably make you think twice about its capabilities and performance, just like others who have dared to purchase the?Whistler XTR-140 Radar Detector. Once you have experienced using it however, you will be surprised at the speed at which it warns you of detected X, K, and Ka signals, giving you enough time to adjust your speed. The display is clear, and does not have any of the extras that can get confusing and distracting at times.
For the low price that it comes with though, you could definitely expect that there are a few setbacks. For example, it does not come with the advanced features that more expensive detectors have. It does not save the last set of settings that you used for one thing, which means that you would have to set the device every single time you use it. False alarms would also be something that you would have to get used to, as it does not have the necessary tools that isolate false signals from the real ones.?Click here to read more customer reviews?
So if you don?t really mind not having state of the art equipment and would be fine with a plain detector, this Whistler Radar Detector is reasonably priced, letting you pay a small price for what it is initially set to do: radar detecting. However, if you are the type who gets tickets all the time, and would need a lot more precautionary measures than what this detector has to give, you would definitely have to shell out a whole lot more money than this. You can try the Escort Passport 9500ix Radar Detector for more features, or the Cobra XRS 9970G Radar Detector for its precision.
