It has been tested and proven to have excellent laser reception, and the fact that its designs from 1992 are still being used today proves the fact that it has withstood the test of time and has continued to show excellent performance, accuracy and precision in radar detection. Older units can even be sent in to be upgraded with newer hardware and software, ensuring that you save up on costs and eliminate the need to buy a newer detector.

Users of the Valentine V1 Radar Detector find its detection range to be quite amazing, and its ability to track multiple targets very helpful. Front and rear detectors are a good innovation, giving it more range in detecting threats. Its design also makes more sense, as its all black finish reflects less light compared to silver units used by other brands. Its variable volume and mute settings with one touch mute are convenient to use, and all the LEDs are arranged vertically with Laser (L) on top, Ka next, K after that, and X coming last, which signifies their probability of showing up as false alarms. It has three sensitivity settings that helps you sort out the false alarms from the real alerts, with a clear display showing ?J? when the signal is thought to be junk.

What could have made this Valentine Radar Detector great however, is a different set up as far as the LEDs are concerned. There may be a separate LED for each type of laser detected, but all the LEDs are the same color, which can be quite confusing, especially at night. It would have been better if a different LED color were assigned to each specific signal so that understanding the signals merely by looking at the lights would be a lot easier.

There are also issues about the Valentine V1 sending off a warning when going near electronic toll payments, and by close proximity to the tail lights of some American made cars. The price is also a little too steep, although a lot of users still think that this is well worth it. So if you think the issue with the LED and the signals are tolerable, then you could probably use this Valentine Radar Detector. However, considering the amount of money that you would have to pay for what you would expect to be an almost flawless product, you would probably be better of with an Escort Passport 9500ix Radar Detector, or any other similar radars that are sold for the same price or lower, but without the same flaws.
